It isn't uncommon for many users to use weak passwords since they're less difficult to remember or to use scripts, templates and plug-ins that are not updated for a long time. In either of these situations, it will not be a challenge for a hacker to take over the website and following that to take control of other sites which are hosted in the very same account. In order to prevent this scenario, we've added an advanced security option named JailHost. It limits the access that a script has just to its own folder, so in case one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but won't be able to access any other content inside your account, therefore the damage will be minimal. Of course, employing JailHost will not substitute the security measures you must always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, still it'll allow you to limit any damage to one site only.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account, you can activate JailHost with a few clicks from your Hepsia Control Panel because we have included this option in all of our semi-dedicated plans. It is not activated by default as you may use an application which requires access to other folders within the account and JailHost could potentially cause problems, yet you can easily protect all other Internet sites by separating them from each other. This is very easy because in Hepsia all domains and subdomains have individual folders. In contrast, a lot of other Control Panels store the content of multiple Internet sites in subfolders under a primary domain, so a single hacked website there will mean that all of them will be hacked. With Hepsia, just one Internet site could get damaged and even in such a circumstance, we will quickly recover it via the multiple daily backups which we will keep, meaning that you can go ahead and update it afterwards to protect it from potential attacks.
