SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is designed to confirm if an e-mail message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it originates from an approved server. In the event it does, it is sent to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you're e-mailing spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that is provided with all our semi-dedicated servers, will provide you with an incredibly easy-to-use interface to enable the SPF security service for each domain name that you host in your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your emails. When the e-mails are handled on our end and not by another supplier, you can increase the security level even more and activate an option for all the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domains use our MX records. This option will give you more control and it will eliminate any possibility of anyone faking your e-mail addresses with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable if just your web site is hosted on our advanced cloud website hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by a different service provider. If you aren't sure what features to pick, our technical support crew will help you 24/7.
